The Domaine Albrechtsfeld in Andau in Burgenland is a first class organic farming operation that extends over the Austrian border into Hungary. During recent years, the Domaine’s historic granary has been renovated and adapted for the holding of events and art exhibitions. In 2011, the bäckerstrasse4 platform for young art was invited to develop a concept for an Albrechtsfeld Project Room in cooperation with the Domaine Albrechtsfeld and the Heinzel Group®.

The Albrechtsfeld Project Room has developed into an Artist in Residence Programme based on sustainability, which allows artists to create large format works with dimensions that would be impossible within their studios. Sculptures and objects for the outdoor area can also be developed. At present, works from Alan Cicmak and Markus Hofer already stand in Albrechtsfeld. In addition to the Project Room, a fully equipped forge is available for artistic purposes and is planned to establish the outdoor areas as a sculpture park. The Albrechtsfeld Project Room is made available to national and international artists from the platform’s pool for a period of two to three months.

In summer 2012 Markus Hofer, Christina Starzer and Alex Kiessling worked in Albrechtsfeld as guest artists and the work complexes that they created are now exhibited in bäckerstrasse4.
